Land Rover just announced the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR, and looking at the numbers, you wouldn’t think it’s an SUV at all… until you see the weight.

Despite towing around what seems to be 5,100 pounds of concrete slabs in the trunk, the SVR takes the title of the fastest production Land Rover in the world.

The top-of-the-line Range Rover also set a Nürburgring lap time (because all the cool kids are doing it) of eight minutes and 14 seconds.

Engine: Supercharged 5.0-liter V8 sourced from the Jaguar F-Type. Because it’s an insanely fantastic engine that’s why.

Power: 550 horsepower and 502 ft/lbs (needs no further justification).

Speed: Zero to 60 in 4.5 seconds and a limited top speed of 162 mph. Yes, we’re still talking about a seven-seat SUV.

Weight: Just over 2.5 tons. (Re-read above stats for proper affect.)

To sum up, the new Range Rover is still good for doing grocery runs—even if that now involves a quick jaunt down the Autobahn…
