A 1963 Rolls-Royce Phantom V Touring limousine once owned by Elvis Presley will be auctioned off at Bonhams’ Quail Lodge sale in California next month.

The car was ordered new with coachwork by James Young for delivery to the King, who was living in Bel-Air at the time.

He also specified a Blaupunkt Koln radio, Firestone white wall tires, parking and flashing lights, electric windows, a telephone and built-in microphone; a center rear armrest containing a writing pad, a mirror and a clothes brush; and a fitted cabinet containing cut-glass decanters and crystal glasses.

The car’s 6.2-liter V-8 engine is good for 200 hp and a top speed of about 100 mph; not half bad considering its weight.

Originally painted midnight blue, Elvis had it changed to a lighter silver shade before donating the plush ride to charity in 1968.

Bonhams says it will bring in up to $300,000, but we’d call that quite conservative.

It’s not every day you get to roll like the King, after all…
