Just when we thought RM Auctions couldn’t possibly add any more star power to their 26-Ferrari strong Monterey sale next month, they’ve tacked on what promises to be the biggest prancing horse of them all.
Alongside Steve McQueen’s own Ferrari 275 GT/B, they’re now offering an equally alluring example of the same vintage: an ultra-rare 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale by Scaglietti.
RM Senior Specialist Shelby Myers calls it “one of the most important Ferraris in the world, and absolutely one of the most important motor cars ever to come to auction.”
The first of only three Berlinetta Competizione cars built entirely by hand by Ferrari for top-tier competiton, it went on to rack up an impressive historic racing and rallying record.
So much so that RM expects it to fetch over $27.5 million in Monterey – i.e. well beyond the means of most mortals….
