A 1975 Pontiac Grand Safari made for John Wayne is being auctioned off by Mecum in Monterey on August 14.

The legendary actor had California’s Barris Kustoms raise the roof on the plush wagon to accommodate his 6’4″ frame and 10-gallon Stetson.

While Wayne had other Grand Safaris decked out with steer horns and cowboy murals, this one was kept rather subtle with its gunmetal grey paint, though the interior is a rather vibrant shade of red.

Mecum expects to get about $75,000 for it, which seems like a pretty good deal to us for the Duke’s own chariot…
