For most people, the whole point of a Harley-Davidson is that it makes a hellish racket.

So the idea of an electric version might seem a little counterintuitive.

Even Harley needs to (ahem) roll with the times, though, so they’ve unveiled Project Livewire, a concept bike with classic hoggish looks and an electric engine.


The company is taking the Livewire on a cross-country tour along Route 66 starting next week to gauge reaction to the concept, which won’t see production for a couple years at least.

By that time, gas prices may have gotten so insane that it’ll be welcomed with open arms—and legs…
