The upcoming Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance has plans to celebrate Maserati’s 100th anniversary in real style.

Front and center at the high-end event in March will be one of the most amazing sports cars ever constructed: the one-of-a-kind Maserati 450S Le Mans “Costin Coupe” by Zagato.

The car was created as a secret weapon to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1957 with the input of its driver, the great Stirling Moss.

With eye-clawing lines, Zagato coachwork and an enormous engine, Maserati mechanics dubbed it “Il Monstro”—aka the Monster—and it’s considered by many to be the first true supercar.

It didn’t win at Le Mans, but it made history, nonetheless…
