The very first BMW Art Car, the 1975 3.0 CSL “Batmobile” GT racer painted by Alexander Calder, will be a starring attraction at the 2014 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Florida in March.

The vehicle was originally presented to the public at the Musee des Arts Décoratifs at the Louvre in May 1975, and the car was raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that same year.

The Art Car concept was a hit and the likes of Warhol and Lichtenstein were subsequently commissioned to design cars, and the program is still running.

The Concours will be held March 7 to 9 at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island.
