Bentley placed an impressive fourth in its long-awaited return to motorsports the other day at the Gulf 12 Hours of Abu Dhabi endurance race, a sort of Arabic Le Mans.

The new Continental GT3 was outpaced by a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, which won the race, and a pair of Ferrari 458 GT3s in second and third, but managed to mow down all contenders from the likes of Aston Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini and McLaren.

Not a bad result considering the marque’s decade-long absence from the track following its 2003 Le Mans victory, but also not unexpected as Le Mans winner Guy Smith was at the wheel of the GT3.

The GT3 now gets a break until April, when it will once again take to the tarmac at the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series at Monza…
