Since the dawn of the new millennium, Audi has dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Fourteen years. Twelve victories. A testament to the German marque’s ability to craft machines worthy of top honors at the legendary race.

The newest member to the Audi Le Mans family is the R18 e-tron Quattro. It made its debut back in 2012 and did so with enough gusto to earn a 1-2 finish (and then followed that up this year with a second win).

Well, the ball hasn’t even dropped on 2014 yet and Audi just broke cover on the year’s Le Mans challenger—and with the news that crucial, testing has begun.

With Porsche, the most successful team in the race’s history, returning to LMP1 in 2014, Audi might face a few more challenges earning that walk to the top of the podium. But that might just make Le Mans in 2014 one hell of a show…
