The Peking to Paris Rally is one on of the world’s most legendary endurance races.
Begun in 1907, it covered a distance of over 9,000 miles, much of it uncertain terrain to say the least.
Paris’ Le Matin newspaper sparked the first rally by declaring, ”What needs to be proved today is that as long as a man has a car, he can do anything and go anywhere.”
There have only been five races since the original; these days the cars are vintage, like this classic Porsche 356 from 1957.
Since the race lasts 33 days, let’s hope they’ve stashed some whiskey up there…
