We’ve talked about the imminent anniversary of the Ford Mustang, but that isn’t the only major celebration the classic American automaker has in the works.
In 2014, they’ll also be raising a glass to the 50th anniversary of the GT40, one of the most beautiful cars of all time, and one of the most successful racing cars ever.
GT40s won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four consecutive times, from 1966 to 1969.
The original victory was the first overall Le Mans win for an American manufacturer since 1921.
The Mk IV GT40, which won the race in 1967, remains the only car designed and built entirely in the United States to claim an overall win at Le Mans.
Legendary, to say the very least…
