Last fall, we remarked upon the 90th anniversary of BMW Motorrad, the legendary two-wheeled division of the famed Bavarian marque.
Now the brand has come out with a motorized tribute in the form of the BMW R nineT (get it?), a bike designed to embody nine decades of mechanized excellence.
A potent blend of “purity and power,” the R nineT is styled like an old school cruiser but packs in every iota of current drive and chassis technology.
It’s fitted with a 1,170 cc air/oil-cooled flat twin powerplant 81 kW (110 hp) at 7,550 rpm and max torque of 119 Nm (88 lb-ft) at 6,000 rpm—the latest iteration of BMW’s iconic boxer engine.
The bike is also designed to be extremely customizable so you can make it into your own homage to motorcycling history.
Just don’t go nuts and turn it into a Harley…
