“France’s answer to Steve McQueen” doesn’t quite capture all the effortless cool of Jean-Paul Belmondo, icon of both French New Wave cinema and classic men’s style.
A die-hard sports car enthusiast who was never seen sans cigarette drooping from his lips, Belmondo inspired generations of gentlemen to dress with just a little more panache.
He was also a Rolex fanatic who owned several models over the years, the most famous of which is this Rolex Cosmograph Daytona.

The historically important stainless-steel chronograph, Ref. 6263 made circa 1971, is expected to go for up to about $130,000.
