The original Lister-Jaguar “Knobbly” Prototype, winner of the 1958 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) World Championship, will be offered at RM Auctions’ Monterey sale next month.
The primogenitor of the Cunningham team Lister-Jaguars that regularly competed with much success against Ferrari V12s, Aston Martin DBR2s, Maserati “Birdcages” and Porsche RSKs is one of the rarest British racers of the period.
Nicknamed the “Knobbly” on account of its muscular bodywork, it was built by UK marque Lister with a Jaguar engine, which proved to be a winning combination of British know-how.
It’s bound to make some paddles move pretty furiously in Monterey…
