At RM Auctions’ flagship two-day sale in Monterey, CA, from August 16 to 17 during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance motoring week, this spectacular 1955 Jaguar D-Type is set to cross the auction block.
D-Types are supremely desirable no matter what the provenance, but this one has a particularly colorful past.
Originally sold to Curt Lincoln, of Helsinki, Finland, it was used for the popular Scandinavian motorsport of ice racing.
It’s also quite possibly the only Jaguar ever to have raced in the USSR during the Cold War, having finished 1st in Class at the 1961 Leningrad Grand Prix.
And now it’s worth $4 million–plus.
