We’ve got another winner—literally—for you from RM Auctions’ upcoming Monterey sale in July:
The Maserati Tipo 61 “Birdcage” in which Stirling Moss and Dan Gurney won the Nurburgring in 1960.
One of 16 original Birdcage Maseratis produced, it was entered in the legendary race by the American CAMORADI team and cemented the car’s racing rep.
The “birdcage” nickname comes from its intricate tubular space frame chassis.
RM has yet to release an estimate on it, but considering this is one of the most famous race cars of the early ’60s, you can start by writing in six zeroes on your check…
