This past week, JEANRICHARD welcomed “Hero of The Hudson” Captain “Sully” Sullenberger into the family as their first American brand partner at the Standard Hotel in Manhattan.

DRIVEN correspondent and resident watch expert James Lamdin was on hand to speak with Captain Sully and raise a glass in celebration of the occasion…

JEANRICHARD, a storied Swiss watch manufacture with noteworthy historical contributions to the watchmaking industry, had long lain dormant before being brought back to life several years ago by the Sowind Group, parent company of industry giant (and DRIVEN favorite) Girard-Perregaux.

Now under the new leadership of COO Bruno Grande, JEANRICHARD is re-establishing itself as a watch brand worth paying attention to.

As we’ve mentioned before, the future of the wristwatch industry undoubtedly belongs to the brands with their own manufacture movements—something JEANRICHARD has already nailed.

And the brand has impressive modern and classical case designs and even more impressive price points.

On the night in question, JEANRICHARD honored Captain Sullenberger, the pilot who heroically ditched a US Airways jet in the Hudson River in January of 2009, with a commemorative timepiece.

Sully, who has Swiss roots himself, espoused his love for all things mechanical, and his impressions of a brand dedicated to the “unpretentious and spontaneous virtues” that JEANRICHARD refers to as their “Philosophy Of Life.”

It may require a few more scotches to decipher the exact meaning of that, but we’re sure as hell gonna jump on board anything Sully is driving.

JEANRICHARD, you hereby have our attention…
