When it comes to watch collecting, the store that originally sold the piece can be an important factor.
That’s especially true of vintage Rolex models moved by famous retailers, especially if they happened to add their names to the dial.
Hence this Rolex Daytona Ref. 6239—one of the desirable early versions made in 1969 and originally retailed by Cartier, being offered at Antiquorum’s Geneva sale on March 17—which is considerably harder to come by.
We’d also call the estimate of up to about $35,000 quite conservative.
You are of course perfectly free to call it snob appeal…
