Yes, the reggae legend himself was a Land Rover lover, and now his 1976 Series III Defender is getting a new lease on life courtesy of a Jamaican resort.
Marley used to regularly drive the car around the streets of Kingston, transporting the Wailers and their equipment to gigs throughout Jamaica, Caribbean Journal reports.
For the past several years, the Defender has been rusting away in a ramshackle exhibit at the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston.
Jamaica’s Sandals resort has now undertaken to completely restore the vehicle, which will then be returned to the museum.
It’s deteriorated to such a degree that it must be completely rebuilt, the paper reports.
Personally, we think letting it languish in a museum is kind of a waste, given the Landy’s commercial potential.
Using it to give tours of Marley’s favorite spliff-smoking spots, for instance…
