Helmets off to Audi for kicking ass all over the grid in the GT class at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the year’s first major motorsports event in the US.
Audi R8 Grand-Ams brought home a brilliant one-two finish at the grueling endurance race, which as the name suggests lasts a whole 24 hours—and about 2,400 miles—trashing the likes of Porsche and Ferrari.
Audi’s first 24-hour victory in the States comes on the heels of the Audi R8 LMS’ victories at all of the other key 24-hour races in Europe last year.
The R8 Grand-Am is powered by a production-derived 5.2-liter V10 FSI, so it’s not all that far removed from street versions.
And yes, the lucky winners do all receive Rolex Daytonas…
