This week, the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique is taking place along the French Riviera in the Principality of Monaco and southeastern France.

Cars that competed in the original event from 1955 to 1980 will rev their engines once again, in a race to the finish line in what’s sure to be one of the world’s greatest gatherings of classic cars.

In 1965, this Porsche 911 piloted by Herbert Linge joined the fray, though it was eventually bested by a Mini Cooper S.

It would be three more years before a 911 finished in first place, which it then proceeded to do for the next two years as well before disappearing from the winner’s podium.

Though maybe that will change this year…
