Here’s another dispatch in advance of the upcoming North American International Motor Show in Detroit:
The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG 4MATIC, the legendary marque’s most aggressive sedan, will make its global debut and certainly cause some necks to be craned.
The big news from Mercedes’ high-performance division is a new all-wheel-drive system as standard equipment, and a steroidal S-Model with a whiplashing 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque from a 5.5-liter AMG V8 Biturbo engine.
The S, which goes on sale in the US this summer, can do 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 186 mph.
Make that an electronically limited top speed—if you’re handy with a sonic screwdriver, you might be able to disable the computerized nanny, but you might as well just rip up your warranty while you’re at it…
