Some intrepid souls recently journeyed 4,350 miles through Europe, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal and Gambia in the Amsterdam Dakar Challenge.
The rally benefits various developmental projects in western Africa, so the grueling drive is for a good cause.
Unlike most major off-road rallies with their high-tech super-SUVs, however, the Amsterdam Dakar has a simple rule:
You cannot pay more than 500 euros for your vehicle.
That’s about 650 bucks for those of you watching at home.
Finding one of those that can do 4,000 miles is the real challenge…
