Next year, BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle arm of the famed Bavarian marque, will celebrate its 90th anniversary, having made some of the world’s coolest motorbikes since 1923.

Various celebrations are in the works, but in his recent speech at the international motorcycle show EICMA in Milan, BMW Motorrad president Stephen Shaller announced the upcoming production of a new model with an air-cooled “boxer” engine.

The boxer’s DNA goes back to the very first BMW bike, the BMW R32, and has progressed in leaps and bounds since.
