Born on November 12, 1929: Grace Kelly, one of the most beautiful actresses who ever lived, and one of the very few who proved a match for the great Cary Grant.

Pictured here is the famous scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1955 masterpiece To Catch a Thief, in which she takes Grant for a drive in her Sunbeam Alpine for a picnic in the hills above Monaco.

Years later, Grant would name her as his favorite costar of all time.

“With all due respect to dear Ingrid Bergman, I much preferred Grace,” he noted. “She had serenity.”

Sounds like a rather gentlemanly euphemism to us…
