Twelve Land Rover Defenders, 16 Audi A5s and a classic Aston Martin DB5.

Not the household fleet of an Arab oil sheikh or a seven-star hotel in Dubai, but some of the vehicles put through their paces in key scenes in Skyfall, the new James Bond flick.

The DB5 (above) is of course the iconic 007 conveyance.

Skyfall marks the sixth Bond film the DB5 has been featured in; it first roared around in Goldfinger way back in 1964 and subsequently appeared in Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale.

“The film is about Bond returning to his roots and confronting old demons, so it felt right,” Daniel Craig says about bringing back his classic costar.

As for the scenes where he drives M through the rugged landscape of Glencoe, Scotland, in the car, he notes, “We got some good use out of it, too.”

And that’s why he’s the best man for the job…
