At the glitzy SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) auto show in Las Vegas this week, Fisker is planning to demonstrate that having an electric car doesn’t mean you can’t customize it to look like a hot rod.
Fisker is partnering with 3M at the exhibition to show off the Fisker Diamond Protection Film, which can not only act as a full body “bra” but also allow you to alter the paint scheme with ease.
To prove their point, a Fisker Karma will be “repainted” in a new scheme every 24 hours, courtesy of a high-tech 3M wrap.
The “October Sun” scheme is a nod to the fall season in Gloss Burnt Orange and Brushed Black Metallic; the tradition of custom cars is conveyed in “Classic” Hot Rod Red red with a Brushed-Aluminum-trimmed Gloss Black stripe; and the Satin Black and Gloss Burnt Orange of the “Onward” package is made to reflect Fisker’s forward thinking.
Personally, we prefer the “Riverside” scheme here, however, a nod to American racing heritage in much more tasteful blue and white.
Though of course, at SEMA, tasteful is hardly the point…
