Time for the big-ticket item from RM Auctions’ upcoming Battersea Evolution sale in London on October 31:
A $5.18 million Mercedes-Benz 300SL Alloy Gullwing from 1955, one of just 29 examples produced.
The true racing version of the celebrated Gullwing road car, its special-order lightweight bodywork made it extremely fast and a highly prized alternative to Italian and three-litre sports-racing cars.
Because a man can’t live on Ferraris alone…
