McLaren Automotive is gearing up for the Paris Motor Show next week with the unveiling of the long-awaited P1 concept.

Officially billed a design study, the P1 is an evolution of the marque’s much-admired new MP4-12C supercar.

Insiders say the P1 will probably feature the same turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 engine as the MP4-12Cl, rated at anywhere from 800 hp to 960 hp depending on power options.

Numbers like that could make the P1 the fastest accelerating production car in the world, capable of 0 to 62 mph in less than 2.3 seconds.

Technogeeks are more likely to be impressed, however, by the P1′s new type of acrylic windshield, which supposedly won’t require any windshield wipers.

One very small expense dispensed on a vehicle with a rumored $1.5 million price tag…
