We recently, and far from reluctantly, tried out the new 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet in and around Portland, Maine.
Once again—and since its launch in 1963, the feat has been performed many times—Porsche’s engineers and designers managed to modernize and improve the 911′s performance and looks while leaving the lines of the world’s most beautiful sportscar essentially unchanged.
The 350 hp engine capable of 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 177 mph is something entirely new, however.
Even Porsche purists who are already prejudiced against the cabriolet were forced to admire the fluid muscles of our silver siren with its drop-dead dark blue leather interior.
Which for the record we like far better than the Alcantara fitted in the 911 Carrera GTS we tried out last summer.
One of the stops we made in the nifty new 911 was Portland Trading Co., the Maine man’s style staple of choice, which even has a few cool Porsche books among the natty threads and such.
Now that’s what we call great taste…
