On May 6 at the 2012 Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance in Beverly Hills, Steve McQueen’s 1970 Husqvarna 400 Cross will be the starring attraction amongst a passel of pedigreed machines.

Currently on display at the San Diego Auto Museum, it’s one of over 150 classic and vintage automobiles and motorcycles available for viewing that day.

While the Husky’s current owner Rob Phillips’s team was restoring the bike, they found an “uncirculated” 1960 Lincoln head penny in a small, round plastic case tucked away in the cavity between the engine and frame.

We don’t know whether the coin was placed there for luck or because it is dated in the same year as McQueen’s son Chad was born, but either way we’re sure the King had his reasons…
