To celebrate this year’s Academy Awards, Mercedes-Benz created a retrospective of its iconic SL roadsters revealed alongside the brand-new 2013 model at the marque’s invite-only Oscar party at the Soho House in West Hollywood.

The SL has played a role in over 150 movies and TV shows in its six-decade life span.

The car landed its first role in the 1950s and went on to appear in films like High Society with Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, and The Rookie with Clint Eastwood.
