In addition to Elton John’s E-Type, we also have our eye on this wicked 1981 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Sports Saloon at Bonhams’ Collectors’ Motor Cars and Automobilia sale in Oxford, UK, on March 3.

In 1977, Aston Martin resurrected the Vantage sobriquet for its voluptuous V8 sports saloon, and the following year the model earned the title of “world’s fastest accelerating production car,” doing 0-60 mph in just 5.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 175 mph.

With such high performance, aerodynamic refinements were called for and the example from 1981 on offer here looks every inch the fire-breathing but well-bred British dragon.

Finished in an amazing shade of Sebring Blue, it’s a steal at up to about $75,000.

And you’ll have to be a pretty fast thief to snag it before we do…
