A 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Riley & Scott Racing Car, the vehicle in which the late, great actor won his last race ever, will be up for grabs at RM Auctions’ Amelia Island sale in Florida on March 10.

Between 2003–2007, Newman raced the 700 hp beast in the SCCA Nationals at Atlanta, Lime Rock and Watkins Glen.

“I don’t ever recall Paul coming in lower than first or second place” behind the wheel of the killer Corvette, notes Newman’s former business partner and co-racer Michael Brockman.

“We only ran it about five times a year, but Paul won, or he was second, every time he went out.”

The last race he ran at was Lime Rock—a year to the day before he died. He and I [finished] first and second that day.”

In addition to racing himself, Newman owned his own Can-Am racing team as well as cofounded a Champ Car team with Carl Haas in 1983.

The Vette wears its signature Newman red, white and blue livery and has his initials painted above the driver’s door.

Estimated at up to $350,000, the car is a not only terrific testament to Newman’s racing career and a fitting tribute to a Hollywood legend, but a damn fine piece of machinery in its own right.
