Time to revisit RM Auctions‘ return to Monaco on May 10–12 for its biennial sale at the Grimaldi Forum, coinciding with the 8th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique.
As we mentioned previously, RM will be selling the Saltarelli Ducati Collection, one of the largest private collections of Ducati motorcycles ever to be offered at auction.
From the Saltarelli Ducati Collection at RM’s Monaco sale
Spanning the marque’s full history from road to racing machines, the 100-bike collection was carefully selected over the past 30 years by lifelong enthusiast Carlo Saltarelli, an ex-Ducati factory test rider, racer and owner of a Ducati dealership.
Here we have a rare, factory-entry 1990 Ducati 888 SBK from the golden era of Ducati racing, estimated at up to about $140,000.
It’s a startlingly beautiful machine from a year that also gave us Janet Jackson hits, Ghost, and the Exxon Valdez.
Not a standout vintage, it seems, for anything other than superbikes….
