Bonhams‘ Photographs sale in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco on November 1 features brilliant portraits of some of our favorite artists.
Here we have James Van Der Zee ‘s photo of a natty Jean-Michel Basquiat taken in 1982, estimated at $2,000–$3,000.
Portraits of art world icons in Bonhams’ Photographs sale
Below Francis Bacon poses with one of his triptychs for John Minihan in Paris, 1977, estimated at $10,000–$15,000.
And no sale of this caliber would be complete without a great Warhol snap; at bottom is Burt Glinn’s Andy Warhol, Edie Sedgwick, and Chuck Wein, New York City, taken in 1965, estimated at $3,000–$4,000.
Proof that all kinds of things really are lurking in NYC’s sewer system….
