Back before the Beatles got into nehru jackets and matching haircuts, they looked a lot more like The Clash.
The entire sartorial history of the famed band is featured in a cool new book due out this month from Prestel, Fab Gear: The Beatles and Fashion.
Above they’re pictured at the Cavern Club in Liverpool in 1961 shortly after their debut.

The leather bomber jackets they’d acquired in Germany were soon discarded at the insistence of their natty manager Brian Epstein, however.
Each style they later adopted, from psychedelic stuff to the Sgt. Pepper uniforms, is revealed as a reflection of the music they made and the world views they embraced by author Paolo Hewitt.
The volume features numerous images, many of which have never been published before.
Personally we think they should have stuck with the leather….
