Artist Richard Prince is probably best known for his series of “Naughty Nurse” paintings that command millions of dollars at auction.
It’s no surprise that the works are based on a series of vintage pulp fiction novels – Prince also has an incredible private library in upstate New York.
A look at artist Richard Prince’s incredible private library
The eclectic collection, which includes everything from Vladimir Nabokov’s own first editions to precious Kerouac and Salinger manuscripts is the subject of a cool new book itself called American Prayer.
Designed to accompany an exhibition at the Bibliothèque National de France, the 600-page volume also features many bits of literary ephemera accumulated by Prince which frequently find their way into his paintings.
