Beginning with his first shoots back in the 1950s, French-born Guy Bourdin is the man many credit with bringing kinky sex and an element of danger to fashion imagery.

In the process he re-invented the concept of glamour.

Almost 20 years after his death Bourdin continues to be copied by countless imitators.

Now German luxury publisher teNeues has come out with a new volume of Bourdin’s work as part of its oversized Stern magazine photography portfolios, featuring some of his best-known images, along with some rarer gems.

The gals attacking the bratwurst here originally appeared in Vogue Paris in 1981.
