The ex-Works 1965 RAC Rally and 1966 Scottish winner 1964 Mini Cooper 1,275S Rally Saloon is being offered for sale at Bonhams‘ Collectors’ Motor Cars and Automobilia Sale at the UK’s Goodwood Revival Meeting on Sept. 16.

Belying its small size and apparent fragility, the Mini Cooper developed into the most successful works rally car of the 1960s.

One of the most successful works rally cars of the 1960s

The model’s ultimate expression, the 1,275cc ‘S’, won first time out in 1964 and became the works’ frontline car from 1965 onwards, winning eight international rallies outright that same year.

This car captured the UK’s famed RAC Rally in the legendary Rauno Aaltonen’s hands, then went on to be driven to victory by Tony Fall on the Scottish Rally the following season.

Perfectly restored, it’s expected to fetch up to $160,000.

Not half bad when you consider it’s got the chops to recreate The Italian Job….
