Alison Waite, Playboy‘s Miss May 2006, hit town the other day to spread the word about the Macanudo Millionaire contest, a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime jaunt to Vegas with a trio of Playmates courtesy of the famed cigar brand.

We sent dashing designer Duncan Quinn – aka DRIVEN’s own 007 – to swing by Manhattan’s posh Club Macanudo on a custom Triumph and share a smoke with the poker-playing bombshell.

Duncan Quinn meets Playmate Alison Waite at the Macanudo Club

Here’s his report from the trenches:

Playboy Bunny.  Check. Custom built Café Racer.  Check. Cigars.  Check.

Some talk of a million bucks.

This was starting to sound like an interesting way to spend an afternoon.

Something like a scene from a warped version of The Hangover.

I had one already so it could hardly get any worse.

Something like a scene from a warped version of The Hangover

We all know that at a certain point in time if you were an international lounge lizard or any sort of player there was only one place to be.

The Playboy Club in Mayfair, London, with its private casino.

Alas, I was a mere twinkle in my father’s eye at that point in time, but the lore of the place has lasted the test of time.

Some even say it wasn’t the magazine that bought Hef the black “Big Bunny” (above).

It was the swinging ’60s and the Playboy Club was swinging like no other

Rather all the Middle Eastern gentlemen only too keen to fritter away more money in an evening in the company of a bunny or two at the craps table than the GDP of certain small countries.

It was the swinging ’60s and the Playboy Club was swinging like no other.

The chandeliers were practically being wrenched out of the ceiling.

In fact rumor has it it swung so hard that it put itself out of business.

And thus came the end of a short but rather lucrative foray for Playboy into the fun and games of the London player (though the hijinks continued Stateside).

The luxuriant curves, the splendid tail and all that went with it

And yet branded into the consciousness of every warm blooded man from here to Timbuktu is the lifestyle Playboy had come to represent and portray.

Well, that and the bunnies.

The luxuriant curves, the splendid tail and all that went with it.

Aston Martin DB5s.  Dirty martinis.  Tuxedos.  Cigars. All the bad stuff that’s good for you.

Some might say a tad sexist, but from everything I’ve read they loved what they did and did very well from it.

So who’s to argue with that?

I turned up on a custom built Triumph Bonneville Café Racer

Having turned up on a custom built Triumph Bonneville Café Racer – the photo shows what happens when you let the guys from Dime City Cycles loose and then get Joe at Jack Trebour to apply his deft hand with a wrench or three – I already had a smile from ear to ear.

But I think it also tickled my bunny sidekick, Alison Waite, pink even if she wasn’t fully bunnied out for the day.

It’s amazing what a makeover can do for a person and the same is true for a bike.

Alison explained how I could win a million bucks in Vegas

Jason Michaels at Dime City may have gained fame and notoriety on the TV show “Cafe Racer” but its easy to tell his heart and soul are in the game of turning every machine that comes his way into the sort of thing that turns heads, wins friends and does the ton with ease.

All that was left was to light up a fine Macanudo, sit back and relax and listen intently as the wonderful Alison and her charms explained to me how I could win a million bucks from the cigar maker in a high-stakes Vegas poker game.

In a single hand.

Sounds too good to be true, but that sometimes has its place after all…
