Bonhams is offering up a brace of pre-war British motorcycles during its sale at the UK National Motor Museum’s Beaulieu Autojumble on Sept. 10.

Our favorite is this 1937 499cc Rudge Special, originally owned one of the members of the despatch riders display team formed by the City of London Signals, a Territorial Army unit.

The British motorcycle brand’s motto was ‘Rudge it, do not trudge it’

The storied Rudge brand was born of a merger of two bicycle manufacturers in 1894.

Known for innovations in engine and transmission design, leading to many racing successes, the firm’s sales motto was “Rudge it, do not trudge it.”

For about $13,000 you can take that to heart….
