In the racing world, the UK’s Lola marque is something of a legend.
One of the oldest and largest manufacturers of racing cars in the world, the company has racked up countless championships since it was founded in 1958.
A hallowed classic of production racing car design from the UK marque
We first came across the stylish beasts courtesy of a memorable photoshoot with Steve McQueen and a Lola T70 in the ’60s.
At Bonhams‘ annual Collectors Motor Cars and Automobilia auction at the Goodwood Revival Meeting in the UK on Sept. 16, this rare 1972 Lola T290 DFV is set to cross the block.
The T290s, powered by Formula 1 Cosworth DFV engines, are hallowed as classics of production racing car design; this example boasts an impressive racing history.
If McQueen were around today we’re sure he’d find the $575,000 necessary to park it in his garage….
