Compared with many of the eye-popping classic Ferraris set to cross the auction block during Monterey Classic Car week, this 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS is markedly humble.
But we thought it fitting to close out the endless procession of six-figure thoroughbreds with something a bit more accessible, though no less beautiful.
The Dino 246 was Enzo Ferrari’s tribute to his son and a collaborative effort with Fiat
First appearing as a production model at the 1967 Turin Auto Show, the Dino 246 was Enzo Ferrari’s tribute to his son and a collaborative effort in which Fiat produced a V-6 motor of Ferrari design.
While for some that and the lack of Ferrari badging means it isn’t a “true” prancing horse, the smart ones merely thank their lucky stars that it keeps them relatively affordable.
Slated for At RM Auctions’ Monterey sale in California on Aug. 19 – 20, it’s expected to bring in up to $225,000.
Take our word for it – it’s a steal.
