Expected to fetch up to $1.1 million at Bonhams‘ Quail Lodge auction in Carmel, California on August 18–19, and cheap at twice the price, is this incredible 1966 Porsche Typ 906 Carrera Competition Coupé.

Produced for the 1966 season of World Championship for Makes racing, the 906, more familiarly known in period as the “Carrera 6″, became the last street-legal racing car to be produced by Porsche and one of its most successful.

A beautiful historic racing Porsche expected to fetch up to $1.1 million at Bonhams’ Quail sale

Capable of an impressive top speed of 170 mph (280km/h) at Le Mans, 906s captured many victories leaving the likes of Ferrari 206s and Ford GT40s in the dust.

This example, one of only 66 built, was campaigned successfully across the globe.

Benefiting in recent years from a meticulous restoration, this is an incredibly beautiful historic racing Porsche that’s once again ready to make history.

Good thing you know how to make that….
