7:09 A.M. EDT – Just last month we wrote about Sammy Davis Jr.’s infatuation with Rolls-Royces, especially the Silver Cloud III convertible that he bought in 1963.

Now the Rat Packer’s beloved Rolls has been added to the offerings at Bonhams‘ Quail Lodge auction in Carmel, California on August 18–19.

Davis special-ordered the luxurious ride in April of 1963, complete with the Sand livery popular in the period and a beige leather interior with burlwood trim.

He also specified tinted “Sundym” glass, electric front windows and a built-in compartment containing a notebook, compact and cigarette case in the rear armrest.

Davis showed off the car (along with the rest of his fleet) in front of his stylish 15-room Hollywood Hills mansion below in Ebony magazine in December of ’64 (see below).

One of only 23 land hand drive examples ever built, the Drophead model featuring coachwork by H.J. Mulliner has been completely restored.

At the time Davis shelled out a whopping $20,000 for the super-luxe wheels; at the Quail sale it’s expected to fetch up to $550,000.

You better believe it’s worth it, baby….
