Yesterday we looked in on the NEMPA “Ragtop Ramble”, an annual gathering of New England’s motoring press that sees a convoy of convertibles travel from Boston to Kennebunkport, Maine.

Following a lip-smacking lobster feast at the historic Colony Hotel (below), we went for a spin past President Bush’s oceanside compound in the awesome Bentley Continental Supersports.

Among a flotilla of impressive autos, the Supersports was clearly the star.

Our 15 minutes of fame behind the wheel left us with the automotive equivalent of phantom limb syndrome; obviously, we were meant to own one.

Judging from the envious eyeballing we got from everyone on Ocean Drive, from the presidential security detail to passing motorists, most people feel the same way.

Examine the background above very closely and you might see 41 craning his neck for a better look….
