It was an altogether faster and more sophisticated machine than his undeniably stylish Porsche Speedster, which the Lotus replaced.
In the Eleven, writes author Matt Stone, “McQueen felt he developed his driving skills from lucky weekend amateur to legitimate racer.”
His producers may not have been thrilled to have him hurtling around the track in a rocket ship like this, but the King was on cloud nine.
