The SLS AMG Goes Topless
Coming this fall: the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster, a topless version of Mercedes-Benz’s newest supercar.
An aluminum spaceframe body and an AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine good for 563 hp make it state-of-the-art, but the styling cues from the classic 300 SL Roadster (below) of the ’50s are what appeal to us most.

The wide radiator grille with its iconic three-point star, wing-shaped cross-fin and fins on the hood and sides all call to mind a much more stylish era.
It’s the next best thing to a time machine….
