It’s been a big month for Tom Waits. He was just inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and now Esquire has finally recognized him as a style icon.
Talk about a long time coming.
He was introduced by none other than Neil Young at the RRHF ceremony (see video below), who pointed out that the man is surely eligible for scores of such honorifics – though he neglected to mention the one for stylish boozing (the headquarters is in Memphis, we think….)

Here the gin-soaked musical genius gets a leg up on a suspiciously sporty motorbike, which must have been a prop for the photo op, and yet he looks convincing doing it. That’s true style.
So what next for the only man alive who can really carry off a soul patch? We’re thinking knighthood.
